Keys to the Future:

About the Conference:

The Keys to the Future Conference is a collaboration between students at Whitman College and The STAR Project that aims to shine a spotlight on the challenges faced by justice-impacted individuals and provide a platform for education, dialogue, and action. This conference will bring together experts, advocates, and community leaders to discuss ways to break down barriers and create opportunities for those who have been directly affected by the justice system. We will specifically center topics around employment, education, and housing for people impacted by the justice system. Whether you have been in this work for decades or are interested in learning more, this conference is for you!

Fair Chance: An Interactive DEI Experience

Fair Chance: An Interactive DEI Experience is a 6-hour immersive learning, entirely facilitated by formerly incarcerated leaders. Participants will be assigned a criminal history and life card that represents the identity of a real person who went through reentry challenges, as they attempt to navigate life after being released from prison with the same “fair chance” the facilitators received.
